Turkish Turkcell to Activate International Roaming Services in Syria
Koc made the announcement while extending congratulations to Nuh Yilmaz, Türkiye’s newly appointed ambassador to Syria, on his inaugural day in the diplomatic post. Yilmaz previously held the position of deputy foreign minister before his recent assignment.
"On this occasion, I would also like to share the information that Turkcell has launched international roaming in Syria as of December 23rd, 00:00," Koc stated on X, the social media platform owned by the US-based company.
"Turkcell subscribers who are in Syria will be able to use their lines," Koc added in his post.
Ambassador Yilmaz responded with appreciation for the telecommunications advancement, acknowledging Koc's contributions to the initiative.
"This development is both pleasing and life-facilitating for our citizens traveling to Syria. We are on the ground with all our institutions, standing by the Syrian people," he said.
The roaming service launch represents a significant step in expanding connectivity for Turkish nationals visiting Syria, providing seamless communication access across the border.
